It is a work of art, hand-knotted to order — exclusively for you, by a maker of extraordinary skill. Every bespoke piece begins with a single conversation. Dimensions, material, colour and technique are all shaped by that conversation. Nothing is assumed.
Every bespoke piece begins with a conversation about fibre. Colour, weight, texture — each rope carries its own character. Saffron cotton. Natural jute. Undyed linen. The material is the first decision, and it shapes everything that follows.
Your wall, your space, your proportions. The maker measures and maps every cord before a single knot is placed. The structural logic of the piece — its rhythm, its density, its silhouette — is drawn out in three dimensions from the very first thread.
Then begins the making — unhurried and entirely by hand. Over weeks, the piece takes form: bands of pattern building, fringe falling, tension pulling each cord taut. This is where skill becomes expression, and intention becomes art.
"No two commissions are ever the same.— Julia del Arroyo, Atelier Notes
Each one teaches me something new about the rope."
Julia works directly with each client — reading the space, the palette, the character of the room. The atelier accepts private commissions only: one piece, one maker, one vision. Lead times are typically six to twelve weeks.

(n) Light; a radiance that fills a room
Commissioned for a private residence. Woven in saffron cotton rope of exceptional weight, Lumière is a cascade of light made tangible — a piece conceived to transform an entrance hall into something unforgettable. Each knot placed by hand. Each section an act of measured devotion.
